    Sunday, August 8th, 2010 at 7:53 pm

Artistic Surfaces was founded in 1989 by Harvey Namm on the basis of 25 years of experience in flooring. As time progressed the company became well known contractors specializing in stores like Macys, Bloomingdales, Burdines and Saks 5th Avenue. Luxury Hotels, Art Galleries, Airport Terminals, Performing Arts Centers and Sporting Arenas were added as the years passed.

In the winter of 2009 ARTISTIC SURFACES LAUNCHED NEW DIVISIONS FOR DECORATIVE CONCRETE AND LITHOCRETE PAVING,The new divisions will capitalize on the emerging demand for interior and exterior decorative concrete and Lithocrete® flooring. The new divisions mark the company’s entry as the exclusive Lithocrete licensee for the state of Florida and the area’s most experienced design applicators for decorative concrete concepts.Heading the new division is Martin Gonzalez, a 30-year industry veteran who has relocated to South Florida from the West coast with the same nine-person team of craftsmen responsible for the majority of concrete concepts at the Wynn, Bellagio and Caesars Palace resorts in Las Vegas. Under the direction of Gonzalez, a master in multi-international, large-scale decorative concrete applications, the divisions will provide expertise in residential and commercial decorative concrete and Lithocrete applications.

“We are expanding our offerings to meet demand for innovative, environmentally-friendly flooring concepts in Florida and beyond,” said Harvey Namm, “Lithocrete is extremely popular in California, which is a leader in design innovation yet relatively unknown in Florida and the eastern portion of the United States. Our company has ambitious plans to bring the eco-conscious technique to the forefront of our exceptional flooring repertoire.”
Lithocrete is a patented architectural concrete paving system that utilizes and combines the structural properties of reinforced concrete and the aesthetic quality of surface-seeded aggregates. In addition, Lithocrete is environmentally-friendly in using recycled materials.

In addition, the company, which has worked with terrazzo flooring for more than 20 years, recently received two 2009 Honor Awards from the National Terrazzo and Mosaic Association (NTMA) for its outstanding design work at the Miami International Airport South Terminal and the Fontainebleau Miami Beach. Previously, NTMA honored Artistic Surfaces for its exceptional work at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, in Miami.

“We like to think we are one of the finest terrazzo contractors in the country. Our employees are some of the most skilled people in the industry who take great pride in the quality and timeliness of our projects.” National awards have been earned for work at the Southwest Airlines Terminal, Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport. Additionally the company received awards for showcase projects like the Norton Museum, Disney Cruise Terminal, and Florida Atlantic University. Hard Rock Hotels in Hollywood and Tampa, and the Flagler Pavilion in Palm Beach.

The main goal of the company is to continue to develop, manufacture and market our concepts to the leading architects, builders and developers in Florida.
