After 5 months & 221 job applications! i was finally offered employment at a Construction company as a Trainee Graduate Engineer, the vacancy i applied for stated the job was Permanent and upon a successful interview, i received an lettered contract, stating the job would be temporary 12 months leading to permanent if suitable, with a 6 months probationary period (confusing, i know). Though a little surprised, i accepted the job and im currently in my forth week.

THE COMPANY SUCKS!! A lot of my colleagues aren’t friendly at all. I have most defiantly NOT been given any proper training, i realised this after 2 days of doing NOTHING!, I’ve resorted to walking around the office and trying to get some of the kinder colleagues to let me watch what they’re doing and give me tasks. My so-called manager just sits me there at the desk doing irrelevant tasks, though he sounds relaxed he is a penny counting, sly snake like person who I’ve already witnessed him con workers into paying more than they should for entry to the company’s Christmas party.

I did think to myself, Why is no one training me?, Why does it feel like the position WASN’T even needed?!!!!!!!!!! Then a friendly colleague of mine let it slip that the company was given the construction project to take on by the local authority PROVIDING that the company would employee 2 graduate trainees from areas of high unemployment for a MINIMUM of 6 months, its seems to be adding up that after 6 months (having satisfied the local authority) they are going to let me go, obviously they anrt providing training so i won’t be good enough to be offered a permanent position once the 6 months probationary has past. Infact because i know how sly and tight he is, im quite sure it will happen.

I couldn’t get a reference from my past employer (went bump) and if my new company were to terminate me at the end of the 6 months (which i believe they will, because of the above) i won’t be able to use them for a work reference either, So i would effectly leave a 19 months gap in employment on my CV, not good! The contract i signed stats either party can terminate after 6 months with 1 weeks notice, but could i terminate before that in anyway without this con company trying to charge me? Believe me this company are capable, especially my manager.

When i was at University i was told a few times that alot of the Construction contractors treat new young workers like shit, i warn anyone studying for a career in Project Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Commercial, etc. to be careful.

I am stumped after looking up on Google and Yahoo what the name of a toy played with from the 1980′s was called. I thought it may be Kinetix or similar but I could not find anything. The Toy is a basically a set of geometric looking Polyhedrons or similar cubes that are WHITE. There are many of them and many cylindrical beams that connect them at different angles. You basically would have prongs on the ends of the beams that would SNAP into the polyhedron globe. Each Globe had about 30 to 40 inserts. Because of this they could connect similar to the 1980′s toy Construx, however at many kinds of angles, not just 90 degrees. So I could connect 4 globes and 4 beams to form a square but then 4 beams and another globe at 4 smaller angles leading to a single point to make a pyramid. This was just a simple example as you cold connect MANY of these globes with MANY of these beams to build very large objects and they even made plates that you could snap into the forms you created as well. I am racking my brain trying to think of the name of the toy and if they still even make it. If anyone knows the name and had science toys of the early to mid 80′s please let me know. Thanks

The land is about 2.5 acres and a spot has already been cleared and a driveway put in…. it says "a long driveway leading to a secluded one acre clearing"…. that is all the info I have on how long the drive way is.
Anyways, I am wondering if anyone has a general estimate of how much it would cost to run electricity to the cleared site. I know it ultimately depends on how far it needs to be run….. but I thought perhaps a general estimate could be made.

Also, what is the cost of drilling a well?
