My friend and I have opened up a small painting and handyman business. I am trying to get some work lined up so I can quite me job and do this full time. I have a ad in the yellowpages, 2 newspapers, I am a member of renovation experts which get me leads, I am being advertised on a local TV show every Sunday. I am getting phone calls, but they are only for small jobs around 0 each. I am doing a lot of estimates for bigger projects like painting exterior homes which I have done many times so I know what I am doing. I am coming in much lower on my bids than other contractors by like 00, but I don’t seem to be getting the jobs. I am very nice and talk to the customer, it seems like I got the job, but than I never here from them again! What am I doing wrong and is there any other way for me to bring in more business for my company?? I really want to leave my current job working as a contractor for Comcast, running and installing cable tv and phone.
Its a tough market. I wouldn’t leave without another job offer. Maybe send out applications, and see if you can find another job before you make a big decision.
