    I'm looking at some properties in the city that are already multi-family units. I'm thinking of dividing the? (1,745 views)

    apartments up further into "Micro-Apartments". The units will be one bedroom efficiencies and studios and there will be a limit of two persons per unit. I’m going to be playing Architect myself and am thinking about subbing the construction work out to contractors that I know.

    Do you think it’s a good idea to work with people that you’ve known as neighbors or people that you know because you went to school with their children? I know people say you should never do work with family but since these people are just neighbors and friends parents I’m thinking it’s a little different dynamic.

    I’ll be having people tearing out old walls, framing new walls and doing some lead abatement (I’m only looking at properties that have already been cleaned of asbestos). I have another contact who is an electrician who will be doing some wiring work for me. I’m going to do the finishing work and painting myself because I did that over the summers when I was in school.

      contact your local Building Code Enforcement Office. They can give you all the information you need, do an inspection and issue violation orders.
